Why is reading the Bible and daily devotions something important for Christians? Well the reason they are important is because we need to spend time with the Lord. Think about it this way, we spend time with those who are important to us, our significant other, friends, family. We spend time with them because we enjoy being in their company and because we want to know them better. Well this is the same reason we ought to have a daily time set aside to spend with Jesus to get to know him better. Prayer and reading the Word of God will accomplish many things in our spirits.
1. It will bring us closer to Christ
2. It will transform our hearts and minds and make us more like Jesus.
3. It will reveal the Will of God to us for our own lives.
DAILY DEVOTIONS: Week of January 23 – 28, 2012
MONDAY: Matthew 24:1-51; “Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming.”
TUESDAY: 1 Corinthians 12:1-31; “For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.”?
WEDNESDAY: Ezekiel 22:1-31; “And I searched for a man among them who should build up the wall and stand in the gap before Me for the land, that I should not destroy it, but I found no one.”
THURSDAY: 2 Samuel 24:1-25; “I am in great distress. Let us now fall into the hand of the LORD for His mercies are great, but do not let me fall into the hand of man.”
FRIDAY: 2 Peter 2:1-22; “The Lord knows how to rescue the godly from temptation and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment.”
SATURDAY: Revelation 12:1-17; “And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and the because of the word of their testmony, and they did not love their life even to death.”
