Chapter 7: The Nature of Temptation (Pages 95-101)
- What makes temptation so tempting? Can I tempt myself to sin?
- Is temptation in itself a sin? Is a “lustful thought” a temptation or a sin?
- Read these two passages of Scripture: 2 Sam. 24:1-24; 1 Chron. 21:1-8. Who tempted David to sin?
- Matt. 4:1 reads, “Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil,” why did the Holy Spirit lead Jesus into wilderness to be tempted?
- Reconcile these two verses, Matt. 6:13 “and do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil,” and James 1:13 “let no one say when he is tempted, I am being tempted by God; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone.”
