Sunday School Questions – Topic: Giving

TOLBC believes that growth in the Christian faith is a life-long endeavor and that one of the places it can happen best is in Sunday School class. Sunday school is important in the spiritual development of Christians. It is the only place in most churches that gives a systematic, comprehensive, complete coverage of the Word of God. Currently we are studying “Wisdom for Today’s Issues: A Topical Arrangement of the Proverbs” by Stephen Voorwinde. We invite you to join us.

“Wisdom For Today’s Issues.” Topic: Giving

  1. What exactly is giving? Is it permissible for a Christian to substitute the use of his/her talent in the church for the giving of his/her resources (money)?
  2. Since the concept of tithing is Old Testament based, is it still applicable in the New Testament church? (If it is no longer applicable, what concept of giving does the New Testament prescribe?)
  3. Gross or net, where should a Christian’s giving begin?
  4. Why do Christians find it difficult to give?
  5. Read and clearly explain Mal. 3:8-12
  6. Acts 20:35 reads ” . . . it is more blessed to give than to receive.” What does this mean?
